EN: The article is to analyze existing methods for assessing the competitiveness of an enterprise and determine indicators, the use of which will contribute to the quality of such an assessment and to obtain reliable indicators. Methodology of research. The study analyzes the methods that are most often used to determine the competitiveness of an enterprise. In particular, the method of analysis of hierarchies, which is characterized by a systematic procedure for providing details that reveal the essence of the problem. The considered systematization of methods demonstrates that, depending on the peculiarities of the systematization, the same method can belong to different groups. For example, the matrix of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) is a matrix method in the form of presentation of results. At the same time, according to the (variables) of the analysis, it determines the position in the market of the entity, and by the level of decision making is included in the group of strategic methods. So, in practice, the methods are interrelated, while applying several approaches. Findings. Having analyzed the existing methods of determining competitiveness, we can conclude that those methods that exist are using one or more indicators of the efciency of economic activity, or are using expert evaluation, the results of which are not always objective. The disadvantages of existing approaches to assessing competitiveness are that they do not fully meet the requirements of systematic and comprehensive, and therefore none of the above methods are not adapted to use systematic selection and analysis of all factors that can act on the specifc benefts of the enterprise. In this way, we can clearly formulate the requirements for an optimal competitiveness assessment system that minimizes all the shortcomings of the previous methodologies: the use of raw data that is available and available for calculation, the ability to compare the current level of competitiveness with past periods and the ability to make a forecast for the future/ Practical value. The analysis which has been conducted, which once again highlights that the assessment of the competitiveness of the enterprise is a confusing multifactorial task, which must reduce to the identifcation of the most important numerical indicators (system of indicators) of competitiveness and their subsequent integration. The article argues the conditions for an optimal system for assessing competitiveness, adhering to which, one can minimize all the shortcomings of previous methods for assessing the competitiveness of an enterprise.
